Machete Kills looks to be a lot of fun, with the titular hero now working for the U.S. government and trying to prevent an all-out war from a deranged billionaire arms dealer and a cartel leader who plan to use a space weapon to spread terror across the world. Mel Gibson and Michelle Williams' names have been tossed around in connection to the movie, and apparently Gibson has signed on as the arms dealer, so hopefully Williams comes on board to add to the eccentricity of this cast. I'm actually already looking further ahead to Machete Kills Again...in Space! because that one sounds even more ludicrous than the first two.

Amber Heard & Sofia Vergara Join Robert Rodriguez's 'Machete Kills' 
In addition to Mel Gibson confirmed for a villainous role in Machete Kills and Michelle Rodriguez reprising her role alongside Danny Trejo, there's now two more lovely ladies joining the grindhouse mix. Variety has word that Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family") and Amber Heard (Drive Angry) have taken roles in the sequel. Vergara will play leather-clad Madame Desdemona, whose Mexican harlots have information that Machete needs (sounds like a testosterone-filled man's dream come true) and Heard is playing a manipulative assassin code-named Miss San Antonio. And there's another returning cast member.
Jessica Alba is also reprising her role from the first film as an immigration agent. For those just joining us, the sequel will see Machete being recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. The bad-ass Mexican must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer (Gibson) who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy. Add the action with all the lovely ladies, and you've got a popcorn flick.
